I wasn't too fussed about where we would go on our honeymoon. I said that I was more than happy for us to spend two nights in Paris on The Long Drive Home from our wedding, and left Jason to decide.
We ended up in Cuba.
I had never been to a country like this before. It was not the time-warp I was expecting but instead, a raw and wide-open city. Derelict buildings, a heavy, heavy heat and the tricky charm of the natives made it quite an intoxicating experience.
Happy and bright in places
Dark and pensive in others
It's a strange country and Havana an unusual and distinctive city. I don't think I could hurry back, but it was definitely worth the visit, not merely because it was our honeymoon, more so because it was just so different.

I would kill to get to Cuba but they make it so hard and scary to fly from the US. I really love your tones on these. It makes it feel like an era.
Thanks Ruby. Havana in particular is like nowhere else I've ever been before-such a unique city.
